Our Team

Headquartered in New York City, Nuams builds, delivers, and supports a suite of Drupal-based open-source civic software solutions, called “NuCivic,” for governments and non-profit organizations worldwide. Our mission is to improve the efficacy of civic organizations, by making innovative technology solutions accessible at an affordable cost. Since our founding we have delivered dozens of solutions to some of the world’s leading civic institutions, including the World Bank, the Revenue Watch Institute, the Open Government Partnership, New York City, and New York State. We also make numerous contributions to open source projects by way of code commits, documentation and training, as well as hosting conferences and hackathons. We are dedicated to taking on projects that allow us to do good through good work.

Nuams' co-founder and CEO, Andrew Hoppin previously served as Chief Information Officer of the New York State Senate from January 2009-January 2011. There, he led the successful effort to deploy the first major New York State government website using the Drupal content management system, NYSenate.gov, which won "Best of New York" awards for Project Excellence.

Nuams' co-founder and CTO, Sheldon Rampton, previously served as the Senior Web Developer at the New York State Senate, where his responsibilities included installing, configuring and managing the site’s combination of 132 contributed Drupal modules as well as coding and maintaining the site's 24 custom Drupal modules.

Aaron Couch is Nuams' Director of Engineering for Civic Solutions.  He came to New Amsterdam Ideas with a background in leveraging social media for a number of social justice causes.

Dan Feder has been building websites and applications for community groups, independent media, NGOs and public institutions for more than ten years. With a background in journalism and media, his focus is always on the clear communication of organizations' most vital ideas.

Janette is a critical member of the Nuams team as an exceptionally talented Drupal developer.  She has over 10+ years experience in web development, utilizing Drupal and the latest Open Source tools.  And as an added bonus, Janette is also an accomplished graphic designer.

Nuams' Production Director, Krista Brenner, specializes in requirements gathering, documentation writing, and hands-on Drupal training for end-users. Prior to her work with Nuams, Krista led Member Services in the New York State Senate Office of the CIO, where she supported the technology needs of 62 Senators and their staff.

Federica is Nuams’ web and new media design professional specializing in Drupal. Prior to joining Nuams, she served as Chief of Staff and Creative Director at the e-government office of Buenos Aires’ City Government, where she led the design and rollout of a range of award winning Drupal-based websites.

Director of Team Operations

Christiana Kim is the Director of Team Operations at Nuams. She is the nicest operations machine you'll ever meet, keeping our respective trains running on time daily, triaging inbound communications about the company, and tackling a range of special projects. In her spare time, she is a professional pastry chef, adding some much needed balance-- and sustenance-- to our GEEKY operation.

Rich has extensive experience in strategy, marketing, policy and tech. He worked for nearly 10 years at AT&T in a range of positions including AT&T’s “External & Legislative Affairs” policy organization, where he played an instrumental role in developing the company’s overall social media strategy.
